About Us
Hull CVS provides support to Hull’s community and voluntary organisations.
The role of Hull CVS is to support the sustainable development of voluntary and community groups and volunteering in order to promote justice, equality and improved quality of life.
Hull CVS aims to:
- Bring organisations together to share information and good practice, enabling the sector to work more effectively;
- Promote the value of the sector and of volunteering;
- Support the development of new groups and organisations;
- Provide services which help established organisations and groups to do their work to maximum effect;
- Be actively involved in enabling community and voluntary groups and organisations to have a voice in issues of common concern.
Established in 1981 as Hull Council for Voluntary Services, Hull CVS members are voluntary and community organisations operating in and around the City of Hull. Hull CVS is governed by a Board of Management (Trustees) nominated and elected by its members. Hull CVS is a registered charity (no. 514311) and a company limited by guarantee (No. 1570120).
Hull CVS is a member of NAVCA, Urban Forum, Community Matters, NCVO, Volunteering England, Yorkshire and the Humber Forum and works closely with other agencies in the Humber through the Federation of Local Development Agencies (FoLDA).
