Starter Grants
Funded by a donation from The Sir James Reckitt Charity, Hull CVS runs a small grants scheme providing grants of up to £200 to small volunteer run groups in the city of Hull.
Starter Grants are intended to help new groups get established; and provide small grants of up to £150 to new voluntary run groups to pay for the things that they need to help them get off the ground. Groups must apply within their first six months of existence.
Starter Grants also help very small self-help and support groups who survive on less that £750 per year by providing grants of up to £200 per year. Small groups could use a Starter Grants to pay towards the running costs of the group, purchase materials for activities, replace books and other resources, or contribute towards other costs.

Starter Grants End of Grant Report
This document is a sample copy of the Starter Grants End of Grant Monitoring Form. All successful groups will need to complete a monitoring form a year after receiving their grant.
Once the grant has ended, we ask all the groups we fund to send us a short report. Information supplied in these reports is of great value to us; as well as identifying achievements and developments that Starter Grants has supported the completed reports also help us to see how things are going and the difference a small grant has made to your group. We send all grant recipients a reminder about a month before the End of Grant Report is due.
Information supplied in these reports is thenused to complete our annual report to our funders The Sir James Reckitt Charity.
Grant Holders can complete the End of Grant Report electronically in Word and return it as an email attachment to: grants@hull-cvs.co.uk
You can read our latest report Bransholme Trust and Starter Grants Annual Report April 2011 – March 2012 now.
Statement of Income and Expenditure
Small self-help and support groups applying for a Starter Grant will have to send a statement of their annual income and expenditure. This information sheet explains what a Statement of Income and Expenditure is and gives you a form which you can use to create one for your group.
Our training programme offers a range of courses including funding, running your charity or group, managing staff and volunteers and creating and developing a website. Many of the courses are free to attend.
