First Woman to Ski Solo across Antarctica to Speak at Hull Event

Adventurer Felicity Aston, who became the first female to ski solo and unaided across Antarctica in January this year is coming to Hull to talk about her achievement.

The 33-year-old British explorer, will be speaking at the TEDxHull event at Hull Truck Theatre on 21st  February – just days after she is forecast to return to the UK.

TED – which stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design – is an international non-profit body dedicated to spreading ideas and stimulating dialogue at a local-community level via TEDx events.

TEDx Hull, which has been organised by local business people John Royle of Glanton; Hannah Thoresby and Helen Bissett of  communications agency H&H, and Adrian Allen of Hull University is the first time such an event has been held in the East Riding

Felicity will be joined by ten other speakers, including science fiction writer Adam Roberts, astrobiologist Dr Lewis Dartnell, ultra-endurance runner Robin Harvie and TV psychologist Honey Langcaster-James

Locals, playwright Dave Windass, Andy Kirkpatrick, regarded as one of the world’s foremost mountain climbers and Dr Jim Gilbert of Hull University will also be taking to the stage.

Just one hundred tickets are available, priced £30 which includes a buffet lunch by Fudge of Hull.
